On The Water

Boating

Boat Rental and Launch

Straight Creek Marina offers boat rentals and a boat launch.  You can rent pontoon boats, fishing boats, and wave runners.  Call the marina at (423) 626-5826 or go to their site at https://straightcreek.com/pleasure-boat-rentals/

Nearby Dining by Boat

The Nomad at Norris Lake sits peacefully  at Straight Creek Marina in New Tazewell, TN., conveniently located near neighboring marinas.  If you are seeking live music, food, and drink, Boathouse at 33 (previously Bubba Brew's) at Beach Island Marina is a 10-15 minute boat ride, while Jimmy's Place Lakeside Bar & Restaurant at Norris Landing Marina is a 20-25 minute boat ride.   


Kayaking

The cabin is equipped with two, one person kayaks that you are welcome to use. You will also find life jackets stored on the deck. 


Floating

The cabin has several inflatable floats available if you want to relax on the water. 


Pedal Boat

The cabin has a two-person pedal boat that you can use to cruise around the marina. 


Fishing

Fish from the porch.  Norris Lake has over 56 species of fish and is well known for its striper fishing.  The marina store sells fresh bait and other fishing supplies. 


Fishing License – A Tennessee fishing license is required to fish on Norris Lake. If you don’t live in Tennessee, you can purchase an annual fishing license, 10-day fishing license or 3-day trout fishing license. Find out all the information you need about fishing licenses from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website.

Day Trips by Car

Knoxville

Knoxville is about 40 miles, or a 1 hour car ride, away. Knoxville has many nice restaurants, museums, parks, the Knoxville Zoo, and is home to the Tennessee Vols (Neyland Stadium). 

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The natural beauty of The Great Smoky Mountains is only about 80 miles (1.5 hour drive) a way from the Nomad. Spend a day hiking or sightseeing in this national gem. 

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg

These two popular tourist cities are about a two hour drive from Straight Creek Marina. Pigeon Forge is home to Dollywood and the Titanic Museum. 

ATV Adventures

 These ATV parks are located about 1.5 to 2 hours drive. ATV rentals and trails to ride.


Windrock Park: A large park with 73,000 acres of trails for ATVs, UTVs, dirt bikes, and 4x4s. It is considered the largest privately-owned riding area in the country and offers a full-service campground and general store.


Cub Mountain ATV Park: Features 50 miles of single-track trails and 50 miles of scenic ATV/SXS trails. It's a family-friendly option located near Triple C Ranch.


The Ridges at Royal Blue: This is a destination for ATV riders located near the Royal Blue area.
